In the lab, I created an object meant to improve the life of my partner, Riley. I listened to her describe her day, and brainstormed ideas of what to create that would help her the most. I narrowed her biggest problem down to her difficulties with paying attention, and came up with the perfect plan: to make a fidget ring.
After many prototypes, I found that the best materials I had available to me at the moment were a pipe cleaner and some duck tape. After quite a bit of trial and error, I was able to make a ring that was about the correct size. The final prototype wasn’t perfect, as the pipe cleaner didn’t quite spin as well as I wanted it to.

In the end, I learned the importance of prototyping and peer review, as the creation of a good product has gone through both. The first attempt is never the best, and there’s always room for improvement!
